About Skyhigh CASB for Google Chat

Skyhigh CASB for Google Chat provides comprehensive security, enabling IT teams to monitor and protect sensitive content in Chat conversations within your organization.

You can integrate Skyhigh CASB with Google Chat to monitor risky user activities in Google Chat and apply DLP controls to sensitive files or attachments posted in Google Chat.

Activity Monitoring (Visibility)

Skyhigh CASB integrates with Google Chat via API, offering deep insights into user activities across your organization through Activity Monitoring. Security Operations Center (SOC) admins can monitor Google Chat's user activity in the Skyhigh CASB Activity Monitoring page.

Supported User Activities in Google Chat

The following supported activity types are visible to admin users on the Skyhigh Dashboard:

  • Message_posted
  • Message_edited
  • Message_reported
  • Attachment_upload
  • Attachment_download
  • Room_created
  • Add_room_member
  • Remove_room_member
  • Block_room
  • Block_user
  • Direct_message_started
  • Emoji_created

In addition to providing visibility into user activities, Skyhigh's CASB features a powerful anomaly detection engine called User and Entity Behavior Analysis (UEBA). This engine automatically identifies unusual user actions and generates anomaly incidents. The IT team can then investigate and take remediation actions based on the detailed incident information provided by the system.

Data Loss Prevention Controls

Skyhigh CASB provides comprehensive DLP controls for Google Chat to prevent sensitive data leakage to the Cloud. You can define a variety of DLP policies to capture and block sensitive data posted in any Google Chat conversations, whether 1-to-1, group chats, or spaces.

Following are the list of features supported through DLP controls:

  • Apply DLP policies on messages, chat conversations including 1-1, group chat, and public/private spaces.
  • Apply DLP policies on files uploaded/attached to a message in a chat conversation including 1-1, group chat, and public/private spaces.

Google Chat with Skyhigh CASB

After integrating Google Chat with Skyhigh CASB, you can monitor the Google Chat real-time DLP events count and activity events count on the Service Management page and Google Chat user activities on the Activities page:

  1. Select Google Chat from the Services to monitor the Google Chat real-time DLP events count and activity events count on the Service Management page (Settings > Service Management).

  2. Select Google Chat as the service name to view the Google Chat user activities on the Activities page (Incidents > User Activity > Activities).
