About Configuring GRE Tunnels
You can route web traffic from any location within your network through a Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) tunnel to Secure Web Gateway.
GRE tunneling encapsulates data packets within other packets. Endpoints are set up to send and receive the packets. Routers between the endpoints will not open the encapsulated packets. They only read the headers coming with these packets in order to forward them.
To configure these tunnels, you need to specify several IP addresses and domain names as parameters:
-
On the user interface for Secure Web Gateway, see Configure GRE Tunnels on Secure Web Gateway.
- On a device within your network or for an SD-WAN service you are using, see Configuring GRE Tunnels on a Network Device or Using an SD-WAN Service.
