Create Your Own Progress Pages and Settings

When a user of your organization downloads a file or another object from the web, Secure Web Gateway can send a progress page to the user's browser with information about the progress made with this download.

Different pages can be sent when a download is still in progress, when it is completed and when it is canceled due to an incident.

You can replace the default progress pages with pages of your own. You can create completely new progress pages or clone (copy) the default progress pages, modify them, and use them instead of the default progress pages.

In the following, the steps for modifying a default progress page to create your own progress page are explained. From a high-level perspective, you need to complete these configuration activities:

  • Modify the template for a default progress page to create your own progress page template

  • Modify the default settings for the rule sets that work with progress pages and configure your modified template as part of the modified settings

  • Configure a rule set that works with progress pages to use your modified settings

Proceed as follows.

  1. Modify a default template to create a template for your own progress page.

    • On the user interface for Secure Web Gateway, place your pointer over Policy and in the menus that open, navigate to Web Policy > End User Notification Pages.

    • On the End User Notification Pages page, select, for example, Progress from the list of default templates.

    • In the line for this template, click the first icon under Actions on the right. It is the Clone and Edit icon.

    • In the Clone Template window that opens, click Clone.

    • Work with the template elements as needed to configure your own progress template.

For example, select the Header element and use the options provided under Upload Logo to insert your own logo in the template.

For more information about how to work with the template elements, see Create a Template for an End User Notification Page.

    • After you have configured the settings for your template, click Save.

The End User Notification Pages page appears again with your template listed under Custom Templates.

Custom Templates is configured as the template collection to be used.

Under Template, your own My Progress Page template is shown as the template that is currently used when a page is sent to a user's browser with the information that a download is in progress.

    • Click Save.

    • Configure your own download done and download canceled templates for your progress page settings.

If you have created these templates, you can select them from the lists under DoneTemplate and CancelTemplate on the same page.

  3. Configure your own progress page settings for a rule set.

    • Select Policy > Web Policy > Policy.

    • On the Web Policy page, expand Common Rules on the policy tree at the left, then select the Download Progress rule set.

    • Click the settings icon next to the rule set name in the configuration area.

A panel with the names of the settings that are configured for the Download Progress rule set is inserted on the right. In the list under Progress Page, your My Progress Page Settings are shown as available, but not configured.

    • Select My Progress Page Settings.

These settings are used now for the Download Progress rule set instead of the default settings.

When a progress page is sent to a user's browser to show the progress made with a download, it will look like what you have configured for your My Progress Page template.

You can also configure your own progress page settings for the progress pages that are used by the Advanced Threat Defense library rule set.

You have now modified what is configured by default for progress pages on Secure Web Gateway.
