Enhanced EDM to Support Additional Date Formats

Exact Data Match (EDM), an advanced DLP capability, now extends its functionality to support four additional date formats during file scanning, ensuring no data, such as PII, is exfiltrated. This enhancement enables the DLP system to handle and structure fingerprints accurately, even when date formats vary.

The newly supported date formats are:

  • D-M-YYYY
  • M-D-YYYY
  • YYYY-M-D
  • YYYY-D-

    where, D is a one or two-digit day, 01 - 09 or 1 - 31 for all months,
                   M is a one or two-digit month, 01 - 09 or 1 - 12,
                   YYYY is a four-digit year, 1000 - 2999, and
                   - is a delimiter that can be a hyphen, a full stop, or a solidus (slash), and both occurrences must be the same.

Existing EDM: When a user enters dates in d/m/yyyy or yyyy/m/d format, the DLP system fails to validate date/month values.

Updated EDM: When a user enters dates in m/d/yyyy or yyyy/m/d format, the dates are now detected because the updated EDM supports date formats and values preceded by a zero, ignoring the delimiter (/ or – or .), and also accounts 2-digit or 1-digit month or day values.
