Working with Secure Web Gateway
You work with Secure Web Gateway as an administrator to ensure it protects your network against threats arising from the web.
To provide this protection, you set up Secure Web Gateway as an appliance within your network. The appliance filters traffic that occurs when users who work on-prem within your network access the web. The filtering process follows the rules of your web policy.
After the initial setup, you continue on the user interface, dealing mainly with:
-
System settings — Control the appliance system
At the initial setup, you are already prompted to configure some of these system settings. For more information about these and other system settings, see About Configuring the Appliance System. - Policy rules — Ensure web security
A default policy with rules for ensuring web security is in place after the initial setup. For more information, see About Policy Configuration and Default Rule Set System.
For information about how to ensure web security by authenticating users, see About Configuring Authentication.
To be sure that your web policy works as expected and to take measures if it does not, you are also dealing with:
-
Monitoring — Shows performance parameters and alerts
For more information, see About Monitoring. -
Troubleshooting — Offers measures to address issues
For more information, see Troubleshooting Methods.
To carry out any administrator activities, access rights are required. So, you also need to manage:
-
Administrator accounts — Allow access to the different fields of administrator activities
An account for a Super Administrator is already created by default during the initial setup. For more information, see About Administrator Accounts.
For information about how to complete high-level steps for configuring Secure Web Gateway, see Workflow for Configuring Secure Web Gateway — Overview.
