Install Skyhigh Client on macOS

This topic details how to install the Skyhigh Client application on macOS.

NOTE: Skyhigh Client supports both the existing SCP policy and the Skyhigh Client policy. For more details about creating a policy, refer to the Create a Client Policy section.

TIP:  To create a policy on SSE UI:    

  • Skyhigh Client Policy: Navigate to Policy > Skyhigh Client > Policy > New Policy

  • Existing SCP Policy: Navigate to Infrastructure > Client Proxy Management > Configuration Policies

Prerequisites

  • Operating System: macOS 11.2 or later
  • Skyhigh Client 5.0

Steps to Install

To install the Skyhigh Client on macOS:

  1. Download the Client installer.

  2. Double-click the ScpDistribution.pkg file to begin installation.

  3. In the Installation wizard, accept the license agreement and follow the instructions:


     

  4. Under the Installation Type tab, enter the root password on the Installer pop-up, and click Install Software:

  5. Once the installation is complete, a Skyhigh Client icon displays on the menu bar. 

  6. Click the Skyhigh Client icon and select Home:

    The Skyhigh Client application launches:

  7. On the ep-client extension pop-up, click Open System Settings:



    The Network Extensions pop-up displays:

TIP: Alternatively, open the system settings by performing the following steps:

  1. Navigate to System Settings > General > Login Items & Extensions, and then scroll down to Network Extensions.

  2. Click the i(info) icon next to it, and turn on the ep-client toggle button.

     

  1. Turn on the ep-client toggle button:



    The System Extensions pop-up displays.

  2. Enter the root password and click OK:

  3. Click Done.
    The system extension of the Skyhigh Client is enabled.

  4. Copy the downloaded Client policy to the usr/local/Skyhigh/SC/policy directory.

  5. Launch the Skyhigh Client interface by clicking the Skyhigh Client icon on the menu bar.

  6. Use the following tabs to verify the Client functionality:

  • Home. Displays the Client connectivity status.
  • Client Overview. Displays the details of the applied policy.
  • Connectivity. Displays the configured services status.
  • Log Capture. Displays the log details
  • Disable Client. Enables the user to disable the Client for a specific time upon entering the release code received from the admin:

Upgrade Skyhigh Client to 5.0 

Skyhigh Client 5.0 is supported on macOS Big Sur 11.2 and later.
