Create a Custom Rule Using Rule Builder
Skyhigh Client policy provides the flexibility to define custom rules for effective traffic redirection. It also enables you to create custom blocklists and bypass lists.
The custom rule is defined as the creation of a preferred policy for the Skyhigh Client. You can create a custom rule using the Rule Builder with preferred criteria, operators, values, and actions.

NOTE: The relevant preset rules have to be disabled before creating a custom rule. For example, if the Redirect Private Access Traffic to Gateway preset rule is enabled, any custom rule with the criteria set to Private Access will not take effect, as the traffic will already match and be handled by the preset rule.
To create a custom rule:
- Log in to the SSE UI and go to Policy > Skyhigh Client > Policy.
- On the SC Policy window, select the required rule set from the policy tree in the left navigation panel.
- Click the three dots icon at the very right of an existing rule.
- Under Add Custom Rule section, select Via Rule Builder.

The options for selecting the elements of the new rule appear below the existing rules. - Enter the required details to create a custom rule:
- Rule Name. Enter a name for the rule.
- Select Criteria. Click to add a criterion for the rule from the drop-down.
- To view a short description of each list item, select the Show Description checkbox.
- After selecting a criterion, click Add.

- Select Operator. Click to add an operator for the rule from the drop-down.
- Select Value. Click to add an applicable value for the criterion from the drop-down.
- (Optional) To configure multiple conditions for the rule, which means to have two or more criteria with operators and values, click the plus (+) icon.
A rule with Criteria, Operator, and Value fields is added. It is preceded by AND.- Configure Criteria, Operator, and Value for this condition.
- (Optional) To add an OR condition, click AND.
The OR condition appears before AND. Then click OR, which replaces AND with OR.
To add an AND condition, repeat the clicks in the same order.

- (Optional) Click the plus (+) icon to add another condition.
- (Optional) Click the X icon to remove a condition.
- Select Action. Click to add a suitable action for the rule from the drop-down:
- Bypass: Bypass, Bypass Proxy
- Block: Block
- Web: Bypass, Block, and Forward
- Network: Bypass, Block, and Forward
- Turn on the toggle at the right end to enable the rule.
A green highlighter indicates that the rule is enabled. - (Optional) To delete a rule, click the three dots icon and select Delete.

The new Skyhigh Client rule is created under the required ruleset.
