Gateway List

Gateways act as an intermediary between end users and the Internet and secure outbound traffic. The Gateway section in Client UI enables you to define a list of Skyhigh Secure Web Gateways present on-premises or on the cloud. Gateways for Cloud Firewall are determined internally by Skyhigh Client.

You can configure multiple gateways for the Skyhigh Client, enabling end users to connect to the internet securely. Additionally, you can set up criteria for gateway selection to route web traffic based on defined parameters, enabling flexible traffic management. 

By default, the gateway list is used in a top-down order. The gateway at the top of the list is attempted first, and if it is unreachable or unresponsive, the next gateway is tried. End users can select the fastest server from the gateway list, which establishes a connection to the gateway and monitors response time. The gateway with the quickest response time is identified as the fastest gateway.

To configure a gateway list:

  1. Navigate to Policy > Skyhigh Client > Configuration.
  2. From the Settings list, select Gateway List. 
  3. Click Add New Gateway.

  4. Enter a name for the Gateway.
  5. (Optional) Click Add Description to enter additional information.
  6. Configuration
    1. From the Add Host drop-down, select Add Inline and enter the details:
      1. Hostname/IPv4 Address. Enter an IP address or hostname of the gateway list.
      2. Port. Enter the port number of the Gateway List.

    2. From the Add Host drop-down, select Import CSV to import a file.
    3. From the Add Host drop-down, select Export CSV to export a file.
  7. Gateway Selection Method
    1. First Available. Select this option to connect to the first accessible proxy server from the list that you configure. 
      1. Automatic Switch Over. This option is available only when you select the First Available proxy server option. When this option is enabled, the software checks the proxy server list at the interval you specify and automatically switches to the first available host in the configured list.
      2. Polling Interval (10 to 3600 seconds). Specify the interval the  Skyhigh Client software checks for the active gateway in the configured gateway list.
    2. Fastest Response Time. Select this option to connect to the fastest responsive proxy server in the list that you configure.

NOTE:  

  • The Fastest Response Time gateway selection method is disabled if there is only one configured gateway in the list.
  • While using the Secure Channel feature, the Automatic Switch Over setting is not applicable for a gateway list.
  1. Click Save.
Clone a Gateway

Cloning enables you to easily create a gateway with an existing configuration. After you clone, you can edit the gateway list settings.

To clone a gateway:

  1. Navigate to Policy > Skyhigh Client > Configuration.
  2. From the Settings list, select Gateway List.
  3. From the list of gateways, select a gateway to be cloned.
  4. From the Actions drop-down, select Clone.

  5. Provide a name for the new gateway and modify the configuration and gateway selection method.
  6. Click Save.
