Clone and Edit a Client Policy

You can clone and edit a policy in the policy tree to preserve the configuration and customize it for different requirements. After you clone the policy, you can edit the rules.

For instance, if you need to modify specific details and test them, you can clone using the Clone and edit option. You can disable the original policy and test the cloned version without affecting the original policy. If you need to customize settings or if you have two different zones where some configurations must be unique while many settings remain the same (such as enabled policies that function identically), you can clone and utilize the entire policy. This approach minimizes changes from the existing/original policy. Whether you intend to use, modify, or reuse it, cloning offers flexibility for adaptation.

To clone and edit a policy:

  1. Navigate to  Policy > Skyhigh Client > Policy.
  2. In the policy tree, select a policy.
  3. Click the three dots next to the toggle on/off button.
  4. Select Clone and Edit.

A duplicated policy is created with an appendage copy.

  5. Once cloned, details or fields, such as Name, Criteria, Operator, and Value, can be modified.
  6. (Optional) Click Save to save and publish the policy accordingly.

When you clone a policy, it will appear adjacent to the original policy and not at the end. If you wish to change its position, you can simply drag and drop it wherever you prefer. The key highlight is that it inherits settings from its parent rule set from which it was cloned. Changes to the policy tree, rule sets, or rules are automatically saved.

Once a policy is edited, you must publish the policy to download the latest and updated policy.
