Restart SCP Services on Windows using Command Prompt

This topic provides steps to restart SCP services on Windows using the command prompt when the SCP policies are managed through Trellix ePO.

NOTE: You can skip Step 1 and Step 5 if the SCP policies are not managed by Trellix ePO.

To restart SCP services on Windows:

  1. Make sure Access Protection is disabled before restarting the SCP service. To disable it in TrellixePO, go to Policy > Client Configuration and uncheck the Access Protection checkbox.  
  2. On the client system, open the command prompt and run the following command: taskkill /F /IM ScpService.exeand press ENTER.

WARNING: Do not restart the SCP service more than six times in a row, or MMS will stop restarting SCP.

  1. Run the following command to start SCP manually if it is not running:C:\Program Files\Common Files\McAfee\SystemCore\mmsinfo.exe -start mfemcp
  2. Verify that the SCP service restarts.
  3. Enable Access Protection in the SCP configuration policy and apply the policy.
