Agentless Notification

Agentless Notification alerts end users when actions are blocked, ensuring that Skyhigh Web Gateway alerts are visible in the browser even if the current page does not display them directly.

The notification system can be configured to be active on specific sites or all sites with selected sites excluded.

NOTE: The Browser Controls rules modify web browser behavior within the context of each visited website. They aim to minimize impact on the sites the browser visits, and Skyhigh tests them across a wide range of locations. In rare cases, certain features may not work on some sites or may cause unexpected behavior. Each rule allows scoping to disable its operation on problematic sites if issues occur.

To access Browser Controls:

  1. Navigate to: Policy > Web Policy > Policy > New Ruleset and select Library Ruleset.
The Select Library Rulesets window opens.
  2. Check the Browser Control box.
The Agentless Notification option is automatically selected under the Select Library Rulesets section.
  3. Click the Add button:

This rule set always displays at the top level and is unavailable if you open the Rulesets Library from any Ruleset other than Browser Control.

The Agentless Notification feature consists of three settings to control it's usage, for excluding certain sites:

  • Default Site Inclusions: By default, the ruleset is scoped to All Traffic so that the usage of Agentless Notification is applied everywhere. To apply this feature to only a limited set of sites, change the All Traffic criteria to one that selects only the sites according to need. This can use any criteria, for example, site URL or user group.

  • Default Site Exclusions:  This is a predefined list provided by Skyhigh. This list displays sites that Skyhigh has found to be incompatible with Agentless Notification. Clone and edit options are unavailable on the default site exclusions list because it's a Skyhigh maintained list:

  • User-Defined Site Exclusions: This list defines user specific sites where Agentless Notification should not be used. Use this list to disable notifications if they are found to interfere with normal page behavior. By doing this, those pages will be excluded from the Agentless Notification process:
